How to take care of your Jewellery
I design and make each piece with love and attention, and I want your earrings to stay beautiful for as long as possible.
Although polymer clay is lightweight and durable, handmade jewellery benefits from a little extra care. Polymer clay is a wonderfully comfortable material, perfect for statement earrings you can wear all day. It is flexible and strong, but not unbreakable, and because every piece is handmade, small variations in texture or colour are part of its charm and uniqueness.
To preserve the finish and shape, it’s best to treat your earrings gently and avoid unnecessary pressure or bending.
I recommend putting your earrings on after applying perfume, hairspray or makeup and avoiding wearing them in the shower, swimming pool or at the beach. It’s also best to remove them before exercise or sleeping and to try not to drop them onto hard surfaces.
To clean your earrings, wipe them gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or makeup, or use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Please avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol wipes, jewellery dips or abrasive sponges.
When not worn, store your earrings in a small box or pouch, away from direct sunlight and heat, and avoid leaving them loose in a handbag where they may be scratched. If you have several pairs, keeping them separate will help prevent rubbing.
I use quality findings, including stainless steel and hypoallergenic components, but all metals can react over time to moisture, perfumes or skin oils, so keeping posts clean and dry will help them stay bright for longer.
Your jewellery is handmade, not factory produced, and that is what makes it special. With a little care, your earrings will continue to bring colour and confidence to your outfits for many years, and if you ever have questions about looking after a specific piece, you can always get in touch — I’m happy to help.
